BSI_4Woemn: Empowering female refugees who want to start an entrepreneurial adventure

Online Presentation: Insights and Tools from the BSI_4Women project

Indhold er hentet

How can we best support women with refugee and migrant backgrounds in realizing their entrepreneurial potential?

That is the question Erhvervshus Midtjylland has been working on through the BSI_4Women project, which over the past three years has focused on helping female refugees especially from Ukraine, displaced by the war, to develop entrepreneurial skills and start their own businesses.

Throughout the project, we have gathered valuable experiences and developed a range of practical tools and materials that can be applied when working with female entrepreneurs both locally and nationally.

The event is relevant for organizations as well as local, regional and national authorities working with refugees.

Supporting female refugees in starting a business

Through the BSI_4Women-project, we offered female refugees living in Denmark a free-of-charge business incubation course. The course targeted women who had an idea for a business they would like to start and was designed to help both develop theirs tart-up idea and overall business skills.

During the course, the women were assigned a key mentor who helped them develop their business plan, achieve their goal, offered specialized guidance and answered any questions the participants might have related to being an entrepreneur in Denmark.

The course started with an individual meeting with the provided mentor. The meetings took place between the 6th and 17th of January. After the meeting, an individual learning program was customized for the participants. The learning program lasted 3 months and was self-study based on webinars, learning materials and different tasks aimed at putting knowledge into practice. The course ended on the 24th of April with an online event leaving the participants feeling prepared to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure.
